What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Pierce County?
Purpose: Under the supervision of the Assistant Finance Director, this position is responsible for the payroll, Human Services claims, grant reporting, accounts reconciliation, accounts payable and accounts receivable, daily deposits, and audits. Work requires the application of standardized financial policies and procedures, with an emphasis on payroll, cost, grant and government accounting.
Minimum Qualifications:Associate degree from an accredited technical college or vocational school in accounting or related field OR at least 7 years of experience in cost accounting, finance, or payroll (two additional years of experience may be substituted for education). Experience with computer payroll systems, computer data entry, automated spreadsheets and payroll records.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor degree from an accredited university/college in Accounting or Finance. Five years of accounting or finance experience. Accounting experience in a government setting is preferred. Experience working with fixed assets and payroll is preferred.
This position is a FT 40 hours per week position starting at $28.53-$32.61 per hour (depending on qualifications)
