Overview
Piedmont Candy Company is hiring a Quality Assurance Technician II to support our 2nd shift production team. This role is ideal for someone who can work independently, make sound decisions on the production floor, and uphold the highest food safety and quality standards.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with FDA, BRC, and internal quality standards, while also supporting sanitation verification and training processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process quality checks (weights, metal detection, packaging, labeling, product specs)
- Monitor and enforce GMPs and food safety standards on the production floor
- Verify sanitation and cleaning processes are completed correctly prior to and during production
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and allergen control verifications
- Review and complete production and quality documentation for accuracy
- Support corrective actions, investigations, and traceability exercises
- Serve as a resource to production employees on food safety and quality expectations
- Independently make decisions and escalate issues when needed
- Verify and sign off on new hire training related to quality and food safety
What We’re Looking For
- 2 years of QA or production experience in food manufacturing (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards
- Ability to work independently on 2nd shift with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a BRC or FDA-regulated facility
- Experience with sanitation verification and pre-op inspections
- Interest in or willingness to obtain PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification
