Kitchen Assistant / Transporter

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting kitchen operations, ensuring food safety, and assisting in meal preparation. This position will transport prepared food to volunteer drivers and transport food to serve seniors at a local senior center. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about the food industry and eager to learn more about culinary practices in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Assist in the preparation of ingredients for meals, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items.
• Support chefs and cooks in the cooking process by following instructions and maintaining high standards of food safety.
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
• Ensure all food handling procedures comply with safety regulations and standards.
• Participate in catering events as needed, assisting with setup and breakdown of food stations.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations during peak hours.

Skills

• Previous experience in the food industry is preferred but not required; a willingness to learn is essential.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being capable of taking initiative when necessary.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure quality in meal preparation.
• Good communication skills to interact with kitchen staff and other team members effectively.
• Basic culinary skills or experience in meal preparation is a plus but not mandatory.
