Summary
As an APEX Team member reporting to the President, the Engineering Director is the technical and innovation leader of the company. This hands-on role balances technical execution & vision with operational excellence and resource management. The Engineering Director is responsible for shaping strategic directives, staffing a skilled department, and fostering an innovative, creative design environment. The Engineering Director is an experienced, self-directed leader that independently develops & executes a vision to create and maintain a top performing engineering organization. This role is key in guiding Engineering towards Angelus’ future vision of being a leader in Aerospace and Defense interconnect solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of innovation aligned with the future vision of Angelus, while continually improving the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering best practices.
- Utilize best practice engineering methods and provide expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective, quality outputs.
- Define and implement long-term engineering strategies, yearly initiative objectives, and technical roadmaps that align with company goals.
- Collaborate with Finance to create and manage engineering department budgets.
- Create and manage Key Performance Indicators to effectively implement strategies, provide objective feedback on progress, and identify improvement initiatives/opportunities.
- Build strong cross functional relationships within Angelus’ Leadership Team to support their functions, to communicate strategies and support cross-functional goals.
- Consult with sales on technical matters, ensuring that proposed solutions can be integrated with current products, systems and equipment.
- Work with internal and external (3rd party) engineers from various disciplines to resolve problems, grow internal knowledge and implement solutions.
- Establish, maintain, and ensure compliance with departmental processes and tools to support Angelus’ QMS and ISO/AS requirements.
- Champion improvement initiatives to enhance Engineering’s execution efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure the PIC Wire value proposition is preserved focusing on delivery of innovative products, and outstanding customer service.
- Organize, lead, mentor, and build high-performing teams, including hiring and performance management. Full range of managerial responsibilities including but not limited to talent acquisition and retention, performance management, talent coaching and development. Establish, develop, and guide direct and indirect reports, ensuring an environment for rewarding personal opportunities while delivering strong business results.

Education, Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Management preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of industry work experience in engineering. Strong aerospace and defense interconnect engineering experience preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of experience managing/developing a team of leaders.
- Strong, professional English verbal and written communication skills.
- Outstanding leadership and motivational skills. Experience in leading transformational change in Engineering and New Product Development (NPD).
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining department budgets and expenses, understanding business forecasting fundamentals, allocating resources efficiently, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Extensive experience facilitating and championing continual improvement initiatives using a structured, disciplined approach preferred.
