Insurance Verification and Authorization Specialist Responsibilities:
The Insurance Verification and Authorization Specialist assists patients by gathering and verifying patient demographics, financial data, and insurance coverage as therapy orders are received. They will also strategically manage the therapy authorization process from beginning to end.
Pay Rate starting at $18.00 per hour and based on experience.
Non-negotiables of this position:
- 6 months or more of insurance verification and/or authorization experience.
- Must be kind, professional, and self-aware.
- 90-95% of the workday is on the phone with insurance providers.
- This team member will be open to training, input, and daily mentorship/collaboration from the PRS operational team and leadership.
- High School Diploma
- Proficient with computer usage and computer programs.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefit-eligible position.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Perform daily activities of insurance verification and authorization for multiple locations.
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Attention to detail with strong organization, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to learn, utilize, and maintain EMR systems.
- Identify and report trends and prior authorization issues relating to insurance verification and authorizations.
- Follow written and verbal communications.
- Knowledge and regulations related to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
- Strong Customer service skills
- Must have the ability to be mentored and receptive to management training processes.
- Create and maintain an environment that is consistent with the company’s values and objectives.
- Conveys a professional image and attitude.
- Ability to identify and implement components of the physical therapy and occupational therapy process.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of teams and individuals.
