Essential Job Function:
- Lead & Manager Support – Provide on daily support for both service calls and maintenance projects under direction from Lead Technicians and/or PVCA managers. Must be willing to work hard, learn, ask questions, and gain experience over time.
- Field Oversight – Apprentice will be assigned a primary lead technician in your area to provide oversight and supervision on a weekly basis. Must be timely, honest, and teamwork oriented. *Opportunities for independent service calls will be provided after probationary period, and approval from assigned lead and PVCA manager.
- Electrical O&M Support - Replacing and repairing AC/DC electrical hardware, retrofitting new electrical equipment, DAS installations and repair, AC/DC testing, performance investigations, OCPD testing, fuse and circuit troubleshooting, etc.
- Support energy evaluations/assessments, which will require but is not limited to; climbing ladders, interacting with asset managers, site owners, and facility managers. May include operating aerial lifts.
- Documentation of all activities completed on each service call including: before/after photos, test results, work performed, equipment make/model information, status after service, and recommended follow up if required.
- On-site support of all OEM preventative maintenance activities such as torquing electrical connections, thermal imaging, AC/DC power testing, fan/filter replacements, and general maintenance duties to keep sites operating at capacity under direction from Lead or PVCA manager.
- This position will require travel to support both Imperial County. Overnight travel will be required and is typically a 60/40 ratio with overnight vs local travel. Reduced travel as growth and experience is gained, and all travel expenses are covered by company.
Required Skills:
- Teamwork – ability to work with a small team of O&M professionals to provide leading service in an evolving industry.
- Ability to read, understand electrical plans and symbols.
- Proficiency on a computer with basic hardware, software, and networking abilities. Includes accessing cloud storage and real time work orders.
- ET/Apprentice certificate with ongoing training is acceptable.
- Valid CA driver license required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years electrical construction or electrical experience, preferably in solar.
- Basic computer skills including networking and interfacing with various computer programs including monitoring platforms, Salesforce, and cloud storage. Must be able to use a computer and interface with equipment. Basic training will be provided but you will be expected to be updating notes/photos on a daily basis after completing any service call.
- Passion for electrical power systems and keeping them operational! Must be passionate about the trade or do not apply!
