    SUMMARY
    The Campus Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that a safe learning and working environment is maintained through orderly conduct, security, and safety of site buildings, grounds, and equipment and authorization of access and departure from facilities. The Campus Safety Supervisor facilitates a variety of required trainings and professional development for job and organizations safety standards. The Campus Safety Supervisor serves as a quasi-supervisor of all security staff.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Keeps staff informed of policies and regulations as applicable to student conduct, public conduct and safety and use of district facilities.
    • Serves in a quasi-supervisor role in order to supervise, coordinate, oversee all daily/after school/non-school activities of all security staff.
    • Participates in a new hire interviews and selection; provides feedback for all security staff evaluations.
    • Assigns and collects keys for campus employees at the beginning and at the end of the school year. Takes ID pictures and prints out IDs for all staff and students. Registers all student and staff vehicles and distributes parking decals.
    • Conducts monthly fire drills, lock downs, and reverse evacuations. Submits monthly reports to District offices. Conducts building safety inspections and checks fire extinguishers. Implements safety plans and exit routes for emergency situations.
    • Provides in-service training to all security staff on policies, procedures, security techniques and other safety standards
    • Serves on the site safety team and incident command team to ensure the proper development and implementation of emergency response plans.
    • Maintains liaison with law enforcement agencies and other human services agencies
    • Maintains daily logs and analyzes site trends and reports; submits reports to appropriate administration and recommends strategies to provide a safe and secure campus
    • Directs security staff in emergency response situations as required.
    • Diffuses physical and verbal altercations; participates in investigations of serious incidents and student misconduct.
    • Coordinates and assists in facilitation of student mediation programs.
    • Creates a cohesive security team using team-building strategies and resources.
    • Participates in mandatory in-service training programs.
    • Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND has a minimum of five years of proven work experience in a safety and security related role or law enforcement.
    • Minimum of five years of proven work experience supervising others.
    • Experience developing and facilitating job family training and professional development.
    • Be at least 21 years of age.
    • A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required.
    • Must possess current First-Aid Certification and CPR certification at time of employment, or obtain within first 60 days of employment; maintain current status.

    • Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, students, parents/guardians, and outside agencies.
    • Ability to work under pressure, exercise good judgement and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
    • Skill in mediating and resolving conflicts and diffuse physical altercations safely.
    • Skill in following and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and practices.
    • Ability to identify safety hazards and suspicious persons on school campus.
    • Ability to maintain and analyze necessary records.
    • Knowledge of pertinent laws related District policies and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
    • Commitment to create and sustain a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff.
    • Ability to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures and guidelines.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Work is performed throughout school campuses and requires exposure to various weather conditions.
    • May be exposed to potential physical harm, contagious illnesses, and bodily fluids.
    • Physical ability to perform all essentials functions.
