Based in Enfield, CT, Phoenix employs approximately 85 personnel. We are seeking an experienced Driver & Shipping Specialist to help with the critical function of moving our parts between outside processes and out to our customers.
Role Purpose
The Driver & Shipping Specialist is responsible for safely loading, handling, and delivery of Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc’s flight critical aerospace components to our customers. This role is responsible for adhering to traffic laws and driver safety requirements, as well as conducting and completing vehicle inspections, maintenance, and daily cleaning.

Key Responsibilities
- Issue purchase orders.
- Organize and secure loads. Assist forklift operators when being loaded or unloaded.
- Load and unload trucks using pallet jacks and/or forklifts.
- Receive and verify incoming materials and products.
- Package and ship products per customer specifications.
- Load and unload trucks using pallet jacks and/or forklifts.
- Inspect delivery loads to determine that sales invoices and materials match.
- Create shipping labels, paperwork, and documentation from ERP system, customer portals and shipping company websites.
- Safely and efficiently operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with company policy, as well as federal and state regulations, to handle and deliver freight undamaged and on time.
- Maintains positive, teaming relationship with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
- Assist with other functions as required.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Adept at prioritizing multiple tasks/projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a sense of urgency.
- Availability to work flexible schedules with varying hours to support customer commitments, this includes very early mornings and/or evenings.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Education.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ proven driving experience.
- Valid Driver’s License and good driving record (CDL not required).
- Experience in Aerospace Manufacturing Shipping/Receiving, UPS, FedEX, USPS, etc.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and how to navigate to assigned locations.
- Forklift certification preferred.
Formal Qualifications
- MUST BE U.S CITIZEN OR PERMANENT RESIDENT.
- Must be at least 21 years old to be a qualified van driver.
- Must be willing to submit to a drug test and MVR check in accordance with company standards.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office applications. I.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, Access.
- Must have experience with ERP systems-Issuing POs/Receiving in ERP system.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to, with or without reasonable accommodation, drive an oversized or full-sized van.
- Frequently sit for extended periods of time, up to 6 hours continuously.
- Must regularly be able to sit, squat, bend, twist, and stand.
- Must have the ability to bend and climb.
- Must have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
