Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Sprinkler Fitter role located in the Sanford Area. The Sprinkler Fitter is responsible for installing, assembling, and testing fire sprinkler systems in accordance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Day-to-day tasks include measuring, cutting, threading, and fitting pipe; using hand and power tools to install hangers, valves, heads, and related components; and assisting with system startups, hydrostatic tests, and inspections. The role also involves reading blueprints and layout drawings, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and coordinating with forepersons, project managers, and other trades on job sites. The Sprinkler Fitter will follow all safety policies and life safety standards while representing Sunland Fire Protection in a professional manner at customer locations.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with fire sprinkler systems and sprinkler installation, including understanding of related codes and life safety requirements.
- Ability to work with pipe (measuring, cutting, threading, fitting) and familiarity with common pipe materials used in fire protection systems.
- Skilled use of hand tools and basic power tools commonly used in mechanical or construction trades.
- Commitment to life safety practices, jobsite safety procedures, and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Prior experience as a sprinkler fitter, pipefitter, or in a related mechanical trade is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and installation specifications.
- Physical ability to lift materials, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks in a construction environment.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability, including punctuality and consistent attendance.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites within the region, as needed.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NICET, OSHA safety training) are a plus.
