Axis Engineering Group is seeking a Field Surveyor / Construction Inspector to support the construction of telecommunications infrastructure throughout the region. This is a hands-on, field-based position responsible for collecting accurate survey information, documenting existing conditions, inspecting construction activities, and verifying that work is completed safely and according to project requirements.
This position spends the majority of the day outdoors working alongside utility contractors, project managers, and customers on active construction sites. What You'll Do
- Perform field surveys for aerial and underground telecommunications projects.
- Operate a total station and other survey equipment to collect accurate measurements and project data.
- Survey existing utility poles, conduit systems, handholes, vaults, and underground utilities.
- Verify existing field conditions before construction begins.
- Inspect active construction projects to ensure work matches approved plans and customer requirements.
- Document construction progress with photographs, measurements, field sketches, and detailed notes.
- Identify field conflicts, safety concerns, and construction issues, then communicate them to the Project Manager.
- Assist contractors by answering questions related to project layouts and construction drawings.
- Verify completed work through as-built surveys and field measurements.
- Locate underground utilities when necessary to support survey and inspection activities.
- Maintain organized daily reports and submit accurate field documentation.
- Travel to multiple project sites throughout the workday as needed.
