Summary:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for capturing the daily records that support Philly’s Best Steak Company’s Food Safety Management System. Technicians are positioned on the production floor to ensure that a safe quality product is consistently being produced, and all Hazards (Physical, Chemical and Biological) are controlled.
Environment: Fresh and frozen meat manufacturing facility, average temperature 35 degrees, damp, extremely busy, one shift
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 4:00 pm End times many vary depending on Production
Occasionally, additional hours may be required to complete tasks and/or projects.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promotes a food safety culture within the site.
- Responsible for daily record keeping in regard to the Food Safety Plan, HACCP Plan, and Hazard Analysis, ensuring all documents are completed daily.
- Secondary contact to the USDA FSIS inspector onsite and maintaining a good working relationship built on trust and respect.
- Responsible for reporting production non conformances to Production Supervisors and working closely with them to resolve solutions.
- High attention to detail
- Able to express concerns to supervisor when reviewing quality of products
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written
- Ability to work with all levels of Production staff
- Ability to use tablet to capture daily record checks as listed above
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a Food Safety Role.
- Experience in managing an integrated Food Safety Management System.
- HACCP certified and current (less than 5 years old)
- PCQI certification
- Experience in food microbiology, and pathogen testing
- Sanitation experience and an understanding of chemical titration and usage.
- SQF, BRC FSSC 22000 experience preferred.
