PHD, Inc is seeking highly motivated, detail oriented individual to join our Fort Wayne, IN Purchasing Team!

POSITION SUMMARY:
With minimal supervision and through interaction with the MRP Director, maintain, and continuously improve procedures, and processes designed to provide effective management of MRP (Manufacturing Resources Planning) functions. This responsibility includes the plans and actions to provide quality PHD products and customer service, timely manufacturing procurement and delivery, while striving to effectively utilize PHD’s manufacturing and supplier resources to minimize costs.
CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in related field required
- Two years’ experience in Purchasing and/or Inventory Control
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make buying decisions based on inventory levels, rates of demand, forecasts, variable lead-times, economic conditions
- Accurately report capacity of assigned suppliers/vendors and take appropriate corrective action
- Develop and manage production schedules for assigned supplier/vendor to meet customer demand and asset utilization
- Measure and report supplier performance as to On-Time delivery, quality
- Report production requirements to suppliers, eliminate production line shortages and maintain targeted inventory levels
- Initiate and manage standard, new and custom product through appropriate work releases, MRP, and shop floor scheduling
- Quote customer deliveries for large orders through analysis of BOM, inventory status, supplier lead-time and capacity
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, logistics/carriers, and production planning teams to achieve quality and delivery standards
- Initiate and resolve Corrective Action with suppliers
- Self-directed achievement of departmental and organizational goals
- Role modeling a high level of accountability for internal and external audiences
- Co-develop new product with internal resources as well as negotiate terms and specifications with suppliers

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Time is spent in an office and on the manufacturing floor, both of which are climate controlled
- Time is spent in front of a computer screen keyboarding and manipulating a mouse
- Troubleshooting could be done on the manufacturing floor around various types of machinery which include moving parts, chemicals, coolant, and by-products of material being formed
- Higher level of noise on the manufacturing floor as opposed to the office setting
- One level with concrete floors, no steps, stairs, or inclines
- Rubber/foam mats are present in the machining and assembly areas
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Extensive periods of sitting, standing, walking, arm and hand motion, some foot motion
- Manual dexterity, rotation of wrist
- Good visual ability
