JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Digital Engineer Consultant will support technical solution design and build for our Digital Scheduling initiative, primarily using Epic and integrated with other 3 rd -party solutions. Specific build includes work in Epic MyChart and Cadence on Open Scheduling, Direct Scheduling, and Provider Directory integrations. Knowledge of decisions trees and scheduling interfaces is important. The consultant will ensure timely build that is high-quality, has appropriate documentation, is scalable, and adheres to enterprise architecture standards. This individual is familiar with Jira and is expected to join sprint ceremonies. Outcomes include sustainable, scalable, effective scheduling interfaces.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Solution, engineer, and implement system guided scheduling solutions (Decision Trees) for Epic MyChart and Cadence that support Open Scheduling, Direct Scheduling and Ticket Scheduling use cases.
- Design scalable scheduling solutions that can be reused across specialties.
- Partner with Solution Architecture, Digital Product, Capacity Management, and Cadence Core Tech to ensure builds align with enterprise scheduling architecture and access strategy.
- Translate roadmap initiatives into concrete technical designs and build plans.
- Reduce variation in scheduling builds by identifying and remediating legacy or non‐standard Direct and Open Scheduling configurations.
- Serve as a technical authority for scheduling design decisions, balancing speed of delivery with long‐term maintainability.
- Lead technical delivery from design through deployment for assigned scheduling initiatives.
- Coordinate dependencies across teams to enable timely rollout of new self‐scheduling capabilities.
- Ensure solutions support roadmap KPIs related to:
- Increased online appointment booking
- Expanded availability and scheduling horizon
- Higher provider enrollment/participation in self‐scheduling
- Participate as a senior engineer on the Digital Scheduling scrum team, executing work through Jira‐managed two‐week sprints.
- Contribute to backlog refinement, sizing, and delivery planning with a focus on incremental, testable outcomes.
KEY DELIVERABLES
This role is accountable for delivering tangible engineering outputs, including:
- Engineered System Guided Scheduling (Decision Trees) supporting:
- Ticket scheduling for surgical activities (advanced imaging orders)
- New specialty and departmental expansions (e.g., AOM specialty expansion, surgical journeys, mammography, psychiatry, OBGYN)
- Contributions/participation in System Guided Scheduling (Decision Tree) governance and review framework adopted by the Scheduling team.
- Reusable scheduling design patterns that reduce build time for future specialty onboarding.
- Cleaned‐up and aligned Direct and Open Scheduling department settings.
- Technical documentation covering delivered builds.
- Production‐ready builds that directly support Digital Scheduling roadmap milestones and access KPIs.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Senior‐level hands‐on experience engineering Epic Cadence and MyChart scheduling solutions.
- Demonstrated experience building System Guided Scheduling/appointment‐entry Decision Trees for patient self‐scheduling.
- Epic Decision Tree Badge.
- Strong understanding of Epic scheduling architecture, including Ticket, Open Scheduling and Direct Scheduling.
- Proven ability to design solutions with scalability, reuse, and governance in mind.
- Comfort operating as a senior engineer within an Agile delivery model.
- Ability to independently support complex builds, system changes, and production issues.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience delivering large‐scale digital scheduling access expansions.
- Familiarity with Provider Directory integrations and Capacity Management alignment.
Salary : $95 - $100
