Job description:
We are currently seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a 13-week contract assignment at a busy Ambulatory Surgery Center in Greenwich, CT. This is a great opportunity for a skilled OR nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced surgical environment and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Assess and monitor patient vital signs and overall condition throughout the surgical process.
- Assist with patient positioning and ensure safety during procedures.
- Prepare and maintain the operating room and surgical equipment.
- Prep the patient’s operative area using aseptic technique with approved antiseptic solutions.
- Ensure the correct patient and correct procedure through a properly executed Time Out procedure.
- Provide accurate care and handling of specimens.
- Monitor all equipment used during surgery to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the facility’s EMR system.
- Inventory surgical supplies before and after procedures.
- Provide basic bedside care and respond to life-saving situations according to nursing standards and protocols.
- Monitor the patient’s physical well-being throughout the care continuum.
Additional Scrub Responsibilities (as needed)
- Perform surgical hand scrubbing in accordance with AORN standards.
- Select and manage surgical instruments and supplies for procedures.
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room RN experience required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
- Active Connecticut RN license
- BLS certification required
This is a 13 Week local contract.
