Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacist role based in Hickory, NC. The Pharmacist will be responsible for verifying and dispensing medications, reviewing prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations. Day-to-day tasks include performing medication regimen reviews, counseling facility staff on proper medication use, collaborating with prescribers to resolve medication-related issues, and supporting medication reconciliation processes. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, participating in quality assurance initiatives, overseeing pharmacy technicians, and contributing to policies and procedures that enhance resident safety and therapeutic outcomes.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge with the ability to evaluate medication therapy for safety, efficacy, and appropriateness in skilled nursing and long-term care settings.
- Competence in prescription verification, dispensing processes, and medication administration protocols, including familiarity with long-term care pharmacy workflows and regulations.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, medication labeling, and record-keeping, with solid organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with prescribers, nursing staff, facility leadership, and internal pharmacy team members.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and compliance with HIPAA, state board of pharmacy rules, and all applicable laws.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, e-prescribing platforms, and basic computer applications.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in North Carolina; additional state licenses are a plus.
- Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or institutional pharmacy is preferred but not required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, manage high prescription volumes, and adapt to changing facility and resident needs.
