Publicity Assistant (New York City, Hybrid)
Phaidon is seeking a fulltime Publicity Assistant or Coordinator based in New York City to provide publicity support and manage their own titles. The candidate will work closely with the Publicity Manager and be involved in all aspects of executing a global publicity campaign. This role will work across all titles in Phaidon’s catalog, with a particular focus on Children’s.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, selfmotivated to meet deadlines, and adept at working in a fastpaced, dynamic publishing environment. This fantastic opportunity offers a chance to work with the world’s most influential artists, designers, chefs, architects, and photographers.
Phaidon offers a hybrid work environment with the ability to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. This position will require three days per week in our Bleecker Street office downtown. A laptop will be provided for work from home days.

Responsibilities:
- Manage Children’s list and oversee backlist publicity requests
- Professionally communicate directly with authors and media
- Provide administrative support to the Publicity Manager and Publicist on all titles across the list
- Maintain publicity clips and press quotes
- Oversee book mailings in New York office
- Train the marketing & publicity intern
- Draft press materials in InDesign
- Coordinate with the UK’s Junior Press Officer on shared campaigns
- Use Muck Rack to build and maintain media lists
- Attend author events, as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in book publicity at a leading art publisher
- Genuine interest in art, design, cookery, and especially children’s books
- Comfortable talking with authors, partners, and press on calls and emails
- Must be able to prioritize, multitask, and manage time effectively
- An ability to work in a fastpaced environment under deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Works well under pressure in a fastpaced environment
- Comfortable responding to a variety of calls from authors, media, to event partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and InDesign experience
Salary : $15 - $45,000
