What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at PGT Innovations?
Summary:
Production Planning
Develop daily and weekly production plans for a factory or product line to include
resource planning and monitoring and reporting on performance against the
plan.
Leadership and Direction
Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's
strategy and action plan and the broader organization's mission and vision;
motivate people to achieve local business goals.
Manufacturing Methods/Processes Development
Identify shortcomings in existing manufacturing processes, systems, and
procedures; develop methods and processes to address them.
Health, Safety and Environment
Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions;
to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself
and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify
instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action,
escalating serious issues as appropriate.
Quality
Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes.
Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives, and
monitoring them to make sure they are effective.
Work Scheduling and Allocation
Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve
expectations while following established timelines.
Operational Compliance
Identify, within the team, instances of non-compliance with the organization's
policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct,
reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.
Budgeting
Track budgets and report variances to more senior colleagues.
Performance Management
Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to
improve personal performance. OR Monitor the performance of the team;
allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to
ensure timeliness and quality; contribute to formal individual performance
management and appraisal.
Organizational Capability Building
Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
Internal Communications
Help others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering
support and advice.

Education
Bachelors degree preferred
Experience
Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised (13 months to 3 years)
