Role Description
This position will be responsible for supporting drug discovery by performing in vitro experiments to assess the off-target pharmacology of novel compounds using both cellular and biochemical assays.
Responsibilities
Work independently and as part of a team to help design, execute, and analyze / interpret data generated from biochemical and in vitro cell-based assays. Specific duties to include:
Apply scientific knowledge in running early in-vitro safety screening assays (384 well plate based; medium throughput) using a range of in vitro cell based, enzyme assays and transporter assays.
Support screening efforts by performing aseptic cell culture work for multiple cell lines.
Keep detailed experimental records and prepare study summaries and technical reports.
Have a working knowledge of analysis tools such as Excel, GraphPad Prism, and PowerPoint for experimental documentation and data analysis/presentations.
Contribute to building an innovative culture that embraces scientific excellence, urgency, partnerships with key stakeholders, continuous learning and improvement, increasing technical skill base and in vitro expertise.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus 5 years pertinent laboratory experience in Pharmacology (or related field).
Previous experience running cell/enzyme-based assay platforms in a medium to high throughput environment is required. Experience using plate-based instrumentation (liquid handling, fluorescent plate readers, plate-based scintillation counters)
Cell culture experience
Eagerness to learn new laboratory techniques
Ability to work in fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills as well as ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision. Team player attitude is a must.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to follow pre-established experimental designs and troubleshoot problems in an independent manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of receptor pharmacology principles
Experience with Molecular Devices FLIPR, Revity Envision and Envision Nexus, Perkin Elmer MicroBeta2 platforms
Experience using Revity Signals Electronic Notebook
