Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance (DOF) to provide strategic and operational financial leadership within a hospital environment. This role will oversee the organization’s financial operations while partnering with executive leadership to drive financial performance, operational efficiency, and long-term growth initiatives.


The Director of Finance will maintain responsibility across accounting, purchasing, revenue integrity, health information systems, and patient access functions. This position requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational execution in a fast-paced healthcare setting.


Key Responsibilities

Financial & Revenue Leadership

  • Lead all aspects of financial management, revenue integrity, and hospital financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, internal controls, and operational procedures to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial modeling activities.
  • Evaluate financial performance and provide recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Direct month-end and year-end financial close processes and reporting activities.
  • Oversee financial reporting systems and implement process improvements where needed.
  • Lead revenue cycle optimization efforts including billing, collections, reimbursement, and patient accounting.
  • Supervise accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, cash management, and financial analysis.
  • Support capital planning initiatives and collaborate on long-term financial strategy.
  • Maintain departmental reporting and statistical data for regulatory and leadership purposes.

Purchasing & Materials Management

  • Provide leadership and oversight of purchasing and materials management operations.
  • Develop policies and procedures to improve purchasing efficiency and inventory utilization.
  • Support supply chain initiatives and maintain operational continuity across departments.
  • Assist with central supply planning and operational effectiveness.

Operational Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, coach, and support departmental teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, operational performance, and employee engagement.
  • Complete performance evaluations and support ongoing staff development.
  • Build strong partnerships across physicians, leadership teams, and operational departments.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, financial standards, and internal policies.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial performance and recommendations effectively across leadership groups.
  • Drive strategic initiatives while balancing multiple competing priorities.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and patient-focused care.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field required
  • Master’s degree preferred

Certifications

  • CPA, CMA, or related certification preferred but not required

Experience

  • 7–10 years of progressive finance leadership experience within a hospital or healthcare environment
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare finance, revenue cycle operations, supply chain management, regulatory compliance, SOX, and GAAP
  • Experience developing and managing large budgets and strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development experience
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise required
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with financial reporting, forecasting, and data analysis
