Project Engineer – Heavy Civil & Water/Wastewater Construction
Jacksonville, FL | Full-Time | On-Site
At Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc., we build the infrastructure that keeps communities running. As an employee-owned (ESOP) heavy civil contractor, we specialize in water and wastewater treatment plants, underground utilities, site development, and public infrastructure throughout North Florida.
We're looking for a Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of heavy civil and water/wastewater treatment construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
What You'll Do
- Support Project Managers with planning and execution of construction projects
- Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Track quantities, production, budgets, and project costs
- Assist with scheduling, procurement, and material tracking
- Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and owners
- Support QA/QC efforts and maintain accurate project records
- Participate in project meetings and assist with project closeout documentation
What We're Looking For
- 2 years of experience supporting heavy civil or water/wastewater construction projects
- Contractor-side Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or Assistant Project Manager experience preferred
- Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, scheduling, quantity tracking, cost control, and field coordination
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar construction software
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field preferred
