Position Summary
Petrotech is seeking an experienced Project Manager with an engineering background to lead complex turnkey turbomachinery control projects from contract award through successful delivery.
This position is responsible for overall project execution, including scope, schedule, budget, customer communication, engineering coordination, procurement, change management, risk, and project performance.
The successful candidate must have the technical foundation to understand engineered systems while providing strong project and customer leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects from contractual requirements through deployment and closeout
- Develop and manage project schedules, scope, budgets, implementation plans, and project risks
- Coordinate Engineering, Procurement, suppliers, subcontractors, customers, and internal project resources
- Monitor project scope, schedule, cost, technical requirements, and overall performance
- Prepare and manage change order quotations
- Maintain accountability for project margin and on time delivery
- Serve as the primary customer contact throughout project execution
- Manage procurement, staffing, schedules, and budgets for assigned projects
- Lead project meetings and provide clear status updates to customers and Petrotech leadership
- Identify project risks and drive timely resolution of technical, commercial, and schedule issues
- Coordinate project testing, shipment, installation, commissioning, and closeout activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in an engineering or technical project environment
- Engineering experience involving industrial control systems, instrumentation, electrical systems, industrial automation, power generation, oil and gas, or similar engineered systems
- Hands on experience managing complex turnkey engineering projects
- Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and customer requirements
- Ability to understand and discuss technical specifications, engineering drawings, project requirements, and system deliverables
- Experience working with Engineering, Procurement, suppliers, subcontractors, customers, and field teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation, presentation, organization, and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, PMI, or comparable project management certification
- Experience with turbomachinery control systems, industrial automation, or rotating equipment
- Experience in power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, pipeline, or similar process industries
- Experience managing projects through engineering, fabrication, FAT, shipment, installation, commissioning, and startup
- Experience with project financial performance, change orders, margin management, and customer billing
Candidate Profile
We are specifically seeking an engineer with demonstrated project management experience, not a general Project Manager without an engineering background.
The right candidate will be able to understand the technical work, lead the project team, manage the customer relationship, and maintain accountability for scope, schedule, cost, and successful project delivery.
Work Environment and Travel
This position is onsite at Petrotech’s Corporate Office in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Travel to customer sites, suppliers, subcontractors, and project locations will be required based on project needs.
