Role Description The Tax Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Fort Wayne, IN, responsible for supporting all aspects of the company’s tax compliance and planning activities. This role prepares and reviews federal, state, and local tax returns, including sales and use, excise, and other industry-specific filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The Tax Specialist researches tax regulations, monitors legislative and regulatory changes, and advises on their impact to the business. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining tax records, reconciling tax accounts, and assisting with audits and inquiries.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in tax planning and tax preparation, with the ability to manage multiple filings and deadlines.
- Strong foundation in tax law and general tax principles, including federal, state, and local regulations relevant to corporate and fuel industry operations.
- Solid finance and accounting skills, with experience in tax-related reconciliations, reporting, and analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; professional certifications (CPA, Enrolled Agent, or equivalent) are preferred.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-specialists.
