Shift Information
The position is PRN working as needed by the department. This position works 10 hour shifts.

What You Will Do
Performs holistic assessment throughout the Pre-Op and Post-Op period while following all ASPAN nursing standards and practice recommendations. Communicates all pertinent findings with other members of the healthcare team. Demonstrates understanding of the procedure performed, and documents appropriate assessments, and interventions throughout the Perioperative period. Competent to respond to life threatening complications during the recovery period. Educates patients and family as what to expect during their procedure and the recovery period.
Required Education
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Preferred Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Required Skills
Current nursing Assessment and patient care skills, ability to communicate effectively, ability to master new skills. Basic computer skills.
Preferred Skills
Through knowledge of all phases of perioperative care; Meditech experience
Required Licensure/Registration/Certification
Texas license as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Preferred Licensure/Registration/Certification
Certified in Perianesthesia Nursing (CPAN), Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA)
Required Experience
One year experience as a RN in a hospital or outpatient environment
Preferred Experience
One year or more experience in a hospital Post Anesthesia Care Unit or Critical Care Area Experience.
