Lead Electrician / Foreman

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Electrician / Foreman to lead electrical crews on commercial and industrial construction projects.

This is a hands-on field position. The primary responsibility is to read and understand electrical plans, direct the crew, and execute the work according to the drawings, specifications, electrical code, and project schedule.

Most work will be performed at various project locations within the state. Candidates who are willing and able to travel to other states for select projects are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise electricians and apprentices on active construction sites.
  • Read and interpret electrical plans, blueprints, one-line diagrams, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Lay out electrical work based on the construction drawings.
  • Direct crews in the installation of conduit, conductors, panels, lighting, devices, equipment, controls, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ensure electrical work is installed correctly and in accordance with the plans, specifications, NEC requirements, and applicable local codes.
  • Plan daily field activities and keep crews productive and organized.
  • Coordinate electrical installation with other trades in the field.
  • Identify conflicts between the electrical plans and actual field conditions.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and resolve field installation issues.
  • Perform and supervise conduit bending, wire pulling, terminations, equipment connections, and electrical testing.
  • Verify completed work for quality, accuracy, and code compliance.
  • Ensure proper use and care of company tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Enforce OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies.
  • Train and assist electricians and apprentices as needed.
  • Lead by example and maintain a productive, professional jobsite environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial and/or industrial electrical construction experience.
  • Previous experience as a Foreman, Lead Electrician, or senior-level electrician preferred.
  • Ability to independently read plans and execute electrical work from construction drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and electrical construction practices.
  • Strong conduit bending, layout, wiring, and termination skills.
  • Experience installing electrical distribution systems, panels, lighting, branch circuits, feeders, and equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to properly lead and manage an electrical crew.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with field personnel, superintendents, and other trades.
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work at various project locations throughout the state.
  • Willingness and ability to travel out of state for select projects is preferred.

This position is best suited for an experienced field electrician who can look at the plans, understand what needs to be built, organize the crew, and get the work installed correctly and efficiently.

This version makes it clear you’re looking for a field foreman, not an office/project-management foreman.

Got it. I’d make the role much more field-focused and remove the paperwork/project-management responsibilities.
