Role Description The Responsible NDT/NDE Level 3 role is a full-time, on-site position based in Ogden, UT. This role oversees all nondestructive testing (NDT) and nondestructive examination (NDE) activities, including procedure development, qualification, and certification of NDT personnel in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and approving NDT procedures, interpreting and evaluating test results, maintaining compliance with regulatory and industry standards, and ensuring proper calibration and use of NDT equipment. The individual in this role will provide technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, lead investigations of nonconformances, support quality assurance and engineering teams, and participate in audits and customer reviews. Collaboration with production, quality, and safety teams is essential to ensure effective NDT practices, continuous improvement, and reliable product quality.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in NDT/NDE methods (e.g., MT, PT, RT, UT, VT) and ability to develop, qualify, and approve procedures in line with ASNT, ASME, AWS, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Proven experience in interpreting, evaluating, and documenting NDT results, including defect characterization, acceptance criteria assessment, and clear reporting for internal teams and customers.
- Experience training, mentoring, and certifying NDT Level 1 and Level 2 personnel, along with strong leadership skills to oversee an NDT program and ensure consistent practice across shifts.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, and precision machining processes, with the ability to integrate NDT requirements into production workflows and support root cause analysis for defects.
- Strong quality assurance and compliance skills, including familiarity with ISO, nuclear/industrial standards, customer specifications, and audit processes related to NDT/NDE
