What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Specialist position at Peter Paul Electronics?
Position Overview – Performs a variety of specialized or technical accounting and bookkeeping functions. Responsible for a complete, systematic set of transactions utilizing company software.
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure timely and accurate budget analysis and financial review for management team.
- Recommend and assist in developing policies, procedures and systems to meet company strategic objectives.
- Work with CFO to provide strategic financial leadership and support on the evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers, pension funds and investments and/or other issues affecting the business.
- Recommend and lead new efforts to improve ROE/ROA performance.
- Work to optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate needed strategies for improvement.
- Prepare and verify requisitions, invoices journal entries or other transitions documents for accuracy.
- Prepares special and recurring accounting-related reports, summaries, financial statements, statistical reports and reconciliation.
- Verify the reconciliation of bank statements when required to do so.
- Work with customers to ensure prompt payment of receivables
- Work with suppliers to maintain schedule of accurate accounts payables
- Assisting in developing departmental budgets annually
- Work with department heads monthly to ensure budget compliance
- Will work with operations group relative to production costs
- Follow all company safety rules and report any unsafe acts to immediate supervisor
- Must have full understanding of all company processes, procedures and rules as stated in the Peter Paul Electronic Company Employee Handbook.
- Perform any other duties as directed by Chief Financial Officer.
Essential Skills and Experience
- BS in Accounting
- Minimum of 6 years Accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Skill in maintaining and reconciling accounting and financial records
- Superior communication and organizational skills
- Superior computer knowledge, specifically within MS Office
- Must possess negotiation skills
- Ability to make sound decisions and accept responsibility
- Ability to work with others
- Understanding of the Lean Enterprise Tool
