Base Salary Range: $100,000 –$140,000 per year (based on experience and credentials)

Role Description
The Tax Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Minneapolis, MN, with a mix of in-office and work-from-home flexibility. This role oversees tax planning, compliance, and preparation activities for clients, focusing on equity compensation, business owners, complex income situations, and multi-state considerations. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and preparing individual and business tax returns, analyzing tax implications of investment and compensation strategies, and identifying opportunities to reduce tax liabilities while maintaining compliance. The Tax Manager collaborates closely with financial advisors and the broader team to integrate tax insights into comprehensive financial plans, communicates findings to clients in clear terms, and stays current on tax law changes and regulatory updates. The role also includes process improvement, quality control, and mentoring junior staff to support consistent, high-quality tax services.
Qualifications
- Strong tax planning skills, including the ability to design and implement strategies aligned with clients’ financial and retirement goals.
- Hands-on experience with tax compliance and tax preparation, including reviewing and filing individual and small business returns.
- Solid knowledge of tax law and general tax principles, with the ability to interpret and apply changing regulations.
- Experience working with equity compensation, business owners, high-income clients, and multi-state or complex tax situations is highly beneficial.
- Relevant professional credentials (e.g., CPA or EA with tax compliance focus) and a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency with tax software and spreadsheet tools, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts to non-specialists and collaborate in a team-based environment.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and maintain high ethical standards and client confidentiality.
