Key Responsibilities
- Track the bid market and maintain the bid calendar for the Construction Group
- Lead lump sum bids, including setting up bid folders, organizing projects on Building Connected, and issuing Invitations to Bid
- Perform comprehensive scope/specification take-offs and create methodical, well-organized estimates
- Communicate with design professionals and/or owners to clarify ambiguities in bid documents
- Maintain frequent communication with subcontractors/vendors to ensure competitive pricing
- Perform quantity take-offs for various scopes of work to provide accurate and competitive estimates
- Collaborate with Project Management and Field Operations to develop General Conditions approaches
- Procure and analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing, documenting all qualifications and clarifications
- Prepare bid bonds, forms, and proposals for timely submission
- Develop a database of cost data, unit prices, and historical costs for future conceptual estimates
- Create clear scope documents for Design/Build projects and review all construction documents
- Collaborate with project teams during the "hand-off" process to ensure successful project initiation
- Oversee value engineering during pre-construction and manage pre-construction team members
- Develop and enhance subcontractor and vendor relationships
- Assist senior management with improving processes and procedures
- At least two years of experience as an Estimator, with background in project management or field supervision
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Construction/Science, or similar field (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on honesty and integrity
- Comprehensive knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices
- Ability to work with minimal information and quickly understand owner/architect requirements
- Innovative and succinct approach to projects with strong analytical capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with construction project management software
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in teams
