Key Responsibilities

Divisional Accounting & Financial Oversight

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process for the Infrastructure Group, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage divisional general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and job cost accounting functions
  • Prepare and present divisional financial statements, variance analyses, and performance reports to senior leadership
  • Develop and manage annual divisional budgets; monitor actuals vs. budget and provide actionable insights
  • Oversee Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule preparation, review, and analysis across all active projects
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Controller and CFO on consolidated reporting, audits, and financial strategy
  • Manage divisional cash flow forecasting and optimize billing cycles to support healthy liquidity

Project Controls & Cost Management

  • Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to establish project budgets, cost codes, and WBS structures at project inception
  • Implement and enforce robust cost control procedures to keep projects within budget parameters throughout the lifecycle
  • Track project financial performance using earned value analysis, cost variance reporting, and schedule impact assessments
  • Prepare detailed monthly cost-to-complete forecasts and cash flow projections for all active infrastructure projects
  • Monitor and audit subcontractor billings, change order logs, and contract compliance
  • Identify potential cost overruns early and work collaboratively with project teams to develop corrective action plans
  • Conduct monthly project financial reviews with field teams to validate costs, quantities, and progress
  • Maintain accurate project financial records in Procore and SAGE; ensure data integrity across all platforms

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing divisional finance team; foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Streamline communication and reporting workflows between accounting, project management, and field operations
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the speed of financial decision-making
  • Assist in onboarding new projects and project teams, providing financial training and tools to support success

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 6 years of progressive accounting and/or project controls experience, with at least 3 years in a construction environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Construction Management required; CPA or similar certification a plus
  • Deep expertise in construction job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and project financial management
  • Strong understanding of the full construction project lifecycle—from pre-construction and buyout through closeout
  • Proficiency in SAGE (strongly preferred) and Procore; advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Hands-on experience with earned value analysis, cost-to-complete forecasting, and change order management
  • Exceptional analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to translate complex data into clear insights
  • Proven communicator who can present financial information confidently to project teams, executives, and external stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, solutions-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
  • Collaborative team player with the credibility and presence to influence field and operations leadership
  • Someone who embodies our Core Values and sets the standard for financial excellence
