The Logistics Coordinator oversees all U.S. transportation and distribution activities—from ports and suppliers to our Goldsboro plant, distribution centers, and customers. This role ensures on-time delivery, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strong carrier performance while identifying opportunities to improve our logistics network.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end transportation from ports, suppliers, and transloading facilities to Goldsboro, DCs, and customers.
- Select, negotiate, and manage U.S. carriers and logistics partners (truck, rail, 3PL, transloading).
- Monitor transportation markets to anticipate risks and recommend network or carrier changes.
- Plan and schedule daily operations (truck bookings, appointments, dock times, internal moves).
- Manage rail and spur operations for the Goldsboro facility.
- Ensure full compliance with transportation, safety, and food-industry regulations.
- Review and approve freight invoices and verify rates and accessorial.
- Maintain dashboards and analytics (OTIF, cost metrics, carrier performance, utilization, claims, emissions).
- Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for delivery or service issues.
- Serve as the main logistics contact for Operations, Planning, Commercial, Finance, and key customers.
Decision-Making Authority
- Assign carriers per lane/shipment.
- Prioritize orders and adjust schedules when disruptions occur.
- Approve or dispute freight invoices.
- Apply charge-backs for service failures.
- Recommend mode selection (truck/rail/intermodal).
- Propose network improvements, routing changes, and collaborative transport solutions.
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
- 4 years in U.S. transportation operations, contracts, pricing, and multi-mode logistics.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Skills & Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of U.S. transportation rules/regulations (HOS, weight limits, safety, documentation).
- Experience with freight billing, cost analysis, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis; BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
- Experience with TMS or transportation tracking systems.
Languages:
- Native English.
- Basic Spanish required; strong Spanish proficiency preferred for cross-regional coordination.
