Role: Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist responsible for specimen collection, processing, and registration.
Responsibilities: Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection, process and send specimens, enter orders, accession samples, generate reports, and provide basic customer service. Maintain inventory and supplies. When in Microbiology, handle culture setup and gram stain preparation.
Qualifications & Skills: High School/GED required; phlebotomy certification and 1 year of experience preferred. Skills include active listening, communication, customer service, organization, problem-solving, computer proficiency, and compassion.
Work Environment: May involve high stress, exposure to biological hazards, noise, bright lights, and physical altercations. Requires universal precautions, PPE use, and occasional travel.
Patient Population: All age groups from neonates to geriatrics.
Additional: Performs other duties as needed, with focus on safety, infection control, and quality patient care.
