- Supervise and support the authorization team, including scheduling, training, and performance management
- Oversee the submission, tracking, and approval of service authorizations with insurance companies (MLTCs, CHHAs, Private Pay)
- Contact applicable insurance companies through appropriate means such as fax, email and phone calls.
- Ensure all patient services are authorized prior to service delivery to avoid denials
- Review authorization requests for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with payer guidelines
- Monitor authorization status and follow up on pending or denied requests
- Resolve authorization issues, including denials and appeals
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies, websites, portals, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with intake, clinical, and billing departments to ensure continuity of care and reimbursement
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce delays
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in HHAX relating to authorizations
- Perform adhoc tasks upon request
- 3–5 years of experience in healthcare authorizations, preferably in home care or home health
- 1–2 years of supervisory or team lead experience
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes
- Familiarity with Medicaid, and managed care plans
- Experience with HHAX systems and insurance portals
- Leadership and team management
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical skills for tracking and improving performance metrics
