What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Case Operations position at Personal Injury Trial Law Firm?
Director of Case Operations
Law Firm • Downtown Milwaukee • Full-time • On-site
$80,000 – $110,000 base performance bonuses
About the Role
We're a boutique plaintiff's trial firm handling personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, negligent security, and other catastrophic injury cases — and we try them.
We're hiring a Director of Case Operations to own the systems, data, and deadlines that keep our litigation running at full speed. This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role for someone who thrives on organization, good technology, and getting things right.
You don't need a legal background. You need to be sharp, organized, and fast to learn.
What You'll Own
- Case data and systems. Keep our case management database clean, accurate, and current. Build views, reports, and workflows that help our attorneys make better decisions faster.
- Deadlines and project management. Own the deadline calendar across the firm's active docket. Make sure nothing slips — ever.
- Process improvement. Turn ad hoc work (subpoenas, records requests, case cost tracking, expert coordination, client communications) into repeatable, scalable systems.
- AI and technology. Help deploy and refine AI-assisted tools across the practice. We're already using proprietary AI and custom-built workflows — we want someone who will push this further.
- Trial and focus group logistics. Coordinate focus groups, manage trial prep timelines, and keep the team aligned when cases go to trial.
- External communication. Be a professional, reliable point of contact with opposing counsel, experts, medical providers, and clients.
What We're Looking For
- Exceptional organization and follow-through.
- Strong written and spoken communication.
- Technological fluency — you pick up new software quickly and push tools further than they were designed to go.
- Experience managing databases, CRMs, or project management platforms (Filevine, Salesforce, HubSpot, Monday, Asana, Airtable, or similar).
- Comfort with AI tools and a genuine interest in using them well.
- Bonus but not required: litigation or PI experience.
We're open to candidates from outside the legal industry. Operations, project management, consulting, tech, and professional services backgrounds all translate.
You'll Do Well Here If...
You like project management and optimizing systems. You don't rattle when things get busy. You communicate clearly and directly. You take pride in executing — because the people we represent are counting on us.
