High School Reading/ Language Arts Instructional Coach

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate instructional coach to support high school educators in enhancing reading and language arts instruction at Perry Co Central High School. The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers to develop effective teaching strategies, improve student literacy outcomes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the classroom. This full-time position requires a deep understanding of reading and language arts pedagogy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student success.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to design and implement effective reading and language arts curricula that meet the diverse needs of students.
• Provide individualized coaching and professional development sessions for teachers to enhance instructional practices.
• Analyze student data to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted interventions to support struggling readers.
• Facilitate professional learning communities and workshops focused on best practices in reading and language arts instruction.
• Model effective teaching strategies in the classroom and provide constructive feedback to educators.
• Support the integration of technology and digital resources into reading and language arts instruction.
• Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide literacy initiatives and programs.
• Stay current with research and trends in reading and language arts education to inform instructional practices.
• Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and parents to promote a collaborative learning environment.
• Participate in school meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Literacy, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts or a related area.
• Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in a high school setting, with a focus on reading and language arts.
• Proven experience in instructional coaching or professional development.
• Strong knowledge of reading and language arts standards, assessment practices, and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and other stakeholders.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
• Proficiency in the use of technology and digital tools to enhance instruction.
• Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instructional decisions.
