Location: Perquimans County High School
Position Type: Part-Time (10 hours/week)
Position Overview:
Perquimans County High School is seeking a dedicated and student-focused individual to support our students as they prepare for college and apply for scholarships and financial aid. This part-time position (10 hours per week) is ideal for someone passionate about education, student success, and community engagement.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist students with college applications and financial aid processes
- Provide up-to-date information and resources related to scholarships
- Manage a scholarship spreadsheet with current application processes and deadlines
- Ensure students are aware of college and scholarship deadlines and encourage on-time completion
- Guide students in planning for college, including timelines, requirements, and opportunities
- Promote the NC Teaching Fellows Program to eligible students
- Attend scholarship events offered through the high school and local community
- Collaborate with school staff and community organizations to support student success
- Work closely with faculty to identify and assist students in need of additional guidance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree preferred
- Experience in college advising, counseling, or education support services
- Familiarity with college admissions, scholarships, and financial aid procedures
- Strong organizational skills, especially in tracking and managing deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage and motivate high school students
- Knowledge of North Carolina college systems and scholarship programs (including NC Teaching Fellows) is a plus
