JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is for a Mid to Senior Level Web Application server administrator for a federal contract. This position will provide web server administration to mid-tier systems including installing web components, maintaining such components, securing components, and assisting the customer to troubleshoot the use of these components. This is currently a hybrid position – but is subject to change at any time based on client needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The individual in this position will be a technical expert in the following:
- Architecting, deployment, and sustainment of web-stacks provisioned by Windows IIS, Apache, or Apache/Tomcat services.
- Installation and configuration of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), or government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) applications onto web application servers
- Develops project plans, provides timelines to project stakeholders, and coordinates resources such as acquiring SSL certificates, access to the web server, requesting (through the system ISSM) items such as IP addresses and DNS host records, and may assist in formulating system security waivers and PPSM (ports, protocols, and services management) documentation.
- Performs security tuning and compliance efforts for each managed web server utilizing configuration standards outlined in DISA STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) checklists and SRG (Security Requirements Guide). STIG checklists are available for IIS server and site, and Apache application servers.
- Submits requests for new server builds, or technical assistance from Infrastructure, Cloud Program Management Office (CPMO), or systems security departments via ServiceNow ticketing system.
- Performs management of cloud-hosted web servers located in Azure. Utilizes web-based tools such as Azure workbooks, Logs Analytics Workspaces, and Application Insights.
- Performs administration of web-based applications hosted on Linux web servers. Tasks to include deployment of application releases, file maintenance and setting permissions to files and folders, and monitoring of system resources.
- Reviews in-use SSL certificates for expiration dates; submits requests for replacement SSL certificates on an as-required basis; whenever a certificate is no longer required, submits requests for certificate revocation on an as-required basis.
- Participates in project planning meetings and technical working groups as-needed.
- Submits requests for Windows Active Directory service accounts as required for use by the web application or the database connection string.
- Applies knowledge of the internet, intranet, and extranet environments and related web technology issues.
- Applies knowledge of cloud technologies and terminologies such as IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, and is able to administer resources in an Azure cloud environment
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Reports to and advises management on plans, projects, and functions related to this area.
- Collaborate with web developers, engineers, security, and domain administrators to diagnose and correct application and server issues.
- Authors and provides technical documentation and deliverables as-required to management.
- Respond to emergency operational needs, which may require after hours work, which can be performed remotely
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- DoD Cybersecurity Baseline Certification: CompTIA Security certification or the ability obtain within the first 30 - 45 days of employment. CISSP is also acceptable.
- DoD Cybersecurity Platform Certification: Microsoft AZ-204 certification, or the ability to complete the AZ-204 learning modules in Microsoft Learn
- Bachelor’s degree recommended, but not required
- 7 years of previous experience
- Ability to obtain a security clearance with the Federal government.
- Strong written, oral and customer communication skills
- Ability to work individually and in a team environment
- Ability to manage contracted hours for your position
- Ability to work remotely; remote work location must have a stable internet connection
