EMI Operator

Position Summary

Permian Enterprises, Ltd. is seeking a qualified EMI Operator / NDT Inspector to join our Odessa, Texas team. This position is responsible for performing Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI), Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), equipment calibration, inspection evaluations, and acceptance/rejection determinations in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, and industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience in oilfield inspection services, OCTG inspection, DS-1 standards, and NDT methods. This role requires the ability to set up and calibrate inspection equipment, interpret inspection results, maintain accurate documentation, and provide guidance and training to Level I Inspectors and Assistants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

NDT & Inspection Operations

• Perform Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) and other assigned NDT inspections in accordance with written procedures and customer specifications.
• Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain inspection equipment.
• Evaluate inspection results and determine acceptance or rejection of inspected materials.
• Perform process control checks, including bath strength verification, light intensity checks, and other required quality controls.
• Conduct refacing operations when required.
• Maintain inspection color coding and traceability requirements.
• Ensure compliance with DS-1 standards, company procedures, and customer specifications.
• Complete inspection reports, job documentation, and customer tickets accurately and timely.

Equipment & Facility Maintenance

• Clean and prepare materials for inspection using buffing, grinding, pressure washing, scrubbing, and related methods.
• Assist in maintaining inspection equipment, including grinders, buffers, pressure washers, and EMI systems.
• Assist with inventory management and job material tracking.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.

Leadership & Training

• Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with company procedures and safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and response times.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Maintain current OSHA and required NDT certifications.
• Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Identify and communicate workplace hazards and safety concerns.
• Participate in safety meetings and training programs.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current EMI certification or documented EMI inspection experience.
• Experience performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures and technical specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
• Ability to accurately complete inspection reports and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and/or Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
• Experience with DS-1 inspection standards.
• OCTG inspection experience.
• Oilfield service industry experience.
• Previous experience training or mentoring inspection personnel.
• Knowledge of API specifications and industry inspection standards.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.

• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an industrial inspection environment.
