About Perkins Construction
Perkins Construction is a commercial general contractor headquartered in a 40,000 SF historic building in downtown Nashville. We do high-quality work, operate lean, and hold ourselves to a high standard. We're growing and selectively building a team of people who take ownership, communicate well, and earn the trust of clients and subcontractors alike.
Position Overview
We're looking for a Project Manager who can run tenant finish and commercial interior projects independently - from preconstruction through close-out - without hand-holding. You'll work directly with company leadership, including our CEO, and alongside our field superintendents to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to a quality standard our clients notice.
This is not a training role. You should already know how to manage a job.
What You'll Do
- Own project delivery from contract execution through close-out: schedule, budget, quality, and client relationship
- Manage subcontractor scopes, contracts, submittals, RFIs, and change orders with precision and urgency
- Build and maintain project schedules; identify risks early and drive recovery when needed
- Monitor job costs weekly - understand what's happening to margin and act before it's a problem
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners and architects; communicate clearly and professionally
- Work closely with your superintendent to ensure field execution matches the plan
- Process pay applications, lien waivers, and closeout documentation on time
- Represent Perkins well - in meetings, on job sites, and in every client interaction
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of commercial construction project management experience
- Strong background in tenant finish and interior renovation projects - you know the work
- Fluency with construction documents: drawings, specs, subcontract scopes, general conditions
- Solid understanding of job cost, change order management, and how decisions affect margin
- Ability to manage multiple active projects without dropping balls
- Clear, direct communicator - with clients, subs, and your team
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software
- Calm under pressure; accountable when things go sideways
- A reputation for following through
What We Offer
- Base salary: $70,000–$90,000 depending on experience and track record
- Performance bonus tied to project results
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Vehicle allowance or mileage reimbursement
- A lean company where your work is visible and your impact is real
- Direct access to senior leadership and a genuine path to grow with the company
