Position Summary:
- The Quality Technician for the DMR area is responsible for managing the Material Review Board process, ensuring timely and accurate disposition of nonconforming materials and products.
- This role acts as a liaison between Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to drive resolution of quality issues, maintain compliance with internal procedures and external standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- As well this position plays a key role in supporting the quality assurance function for electronic components and assemblies, investigating nonconforming materials, and performing root cause analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate MRB meetings to review and disposition nonconforming materials.
- Maintain accurate records of MRB activities, including NCRs (Non-conformance Reports), dispositions, and corrective actions.
- Ensure timely processing of nonconforming material to minimize production delays.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) to determine root cause and appropriate disposition (rework, use-as-is, scrap, return to vendor).
- Track and report MRB metrics and trends to support quality improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001), and customer requirements.
- Support internal and external audits related to MRB and non-conformance processes.
- Inspect and evaluate electronic components and assemblies for conformance to specifications.
- Support MRB (Material Review Board) activities by preparing documentation, coordinating meetings, and tracking dispositions.
- Help to perform root cause analysis on quality issues using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and Pareto analysis.
- Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality investigations.
- Support internal audits and customer quality requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality system enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in quality assurance, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with MRB processes, non-conformance handling, and root cause analysis.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP and quality management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar.
- Knowledge of ESD handling.
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of GD&T, and technical drawings
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or medical device industries.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools, microscopes, and inspection equipment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IPC standards, or similar quality frameworks.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
