Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Automotive Service Manager to lead our service department. The ideal candidate will possess extensive dealership experience and a strong background in auto service management, with a deep understanding of automotive diagnostics, repairs, and customer service. Duties
- Manage daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow, and staff supervision
- Oversee all aspects of vehicle repairs and maintenance, including oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, suspension, tire services, and diesel engine repairs
- Ensure technicians perform quality work adhering to safety standards and manufacturer specifications
- Facilitate upselling of additional services and vehicle repairs to maximize revenue opportunities
- Conduct auto estimating and service writing to accurately assess customer needs and prepare repair orders
- Maintain high levels of customer service by addressing client concerns promptly and professionally
- Oversee inventory management for parts and supplies required for various automotive repairs
- Train and mentor technicians on new procedures, diagnostics, and repair techniques
- Handle cash handling procedures and ensure proper documentation of transactions
- Promote a positive team environment focused on efficiency, safety, and exceptional service delivery
Requirements
- Proven experience with a strong background in auto service management
- Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Hands-on experience with auto repair, including transmissions, oil changes, auto body repair, air brakes, alignment, shocks & struts, tire services, and brake repair
- Experience working with service technicians and understanding their workflows
- Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and customer trust
- Strong skills in auto estimating, service writing, and automobile sales processes
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Mechanical knowledge combined with experience in diesel engines and specialty repairs such as suspension or auto body work is preferred
- Leadership qualities with the ability to manage a team efficiently in a fast-paced environment
