Position Summary
The Junior Production Scheduler / Planner is responsible for entering customer orders and developing, coordinating, and optimizing production schedules. This role ensures efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment while meeting customer demand. The position works closely with operations, procurement, and sales teams to maintain production flow, on-time delivery, and overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and enter new customer orders into the manufacturing system in accordance with customer requirements and company policies
- Develop, maintain, and adjust daily and weekly production schedules based on demand forecasts, customer orders, and capacity constraints
- Coordinate with purchasing to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and supplies
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, lead times, and estimates for purchased items and outside processing
- Monitor production progress and proactively adjust schedules to address delays, material shortages, or equipment issues
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and operations teams to ensure jobs are properly routed, scheduled, and released to the shop floor
- Communicate schedule updates, priorities, and changes to production teams and management
- Maintain and review production plans, work orders, inventory levels, and related documentation
- Identify production bottlenecks and recommend process improvements
- Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts and stock level optimization
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field required
- 2–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, purchasing, order management, or manufacturing operations
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, production planning, and capacity management
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and cross-functional coordination abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities
- Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality standards
Preferred Skills
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of inventory management, demand planning, and purchasing processes
APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) is a plus
Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
