The IT Director of Infrastructure & Operations provides executive leadership for the stability, resilience, security, and cost effectiveness of enterprise infrastructure services across on-premises and cloud environments. This leader ensures infrastructure operations enable business growth, reduce operational risk, and deliver reliable technology services at scale.

Leadership Mandate

Lead the evolution of enterprise infrastructure from a primarily operational function to a disciplined, business-aligned capability that delivers reliability, scalability, security, and financial transparency. The role sets direction, establishes operating expectations, and ensures internal teams and managed service providers operate with clear accountability for outcomes.

  • A high-performing operations organization with strong accountability, execution discipline, and customer focus.

Key Accountabilities

  • Infrastructure Operations: Own enterprise infrastructure operations across compute, storage, backup, monitoring, and cloud services, ensuring availability, performance, resilience, and scalability.
  • Service Reliability: Establish operational standards, runbooks, service management practices, observability, and continuous improvement disciplines that reduce disruption and improve service quality.
  • MSP & Vendor Governance: Define the managed service provider operating model, governance cadence, service expectations, escalation paths, and accountability for service outcomes.
  • Financial & Capacity Management: Manage infrastructure budgets, cost drivers, forecasting, allocation, capacity planning, and cloud cost optimization aligned to business demand.
  • Security, Risk & Compliance: Ensure infrastructure operations meet cybersecurity, audit, regulatory, vulnerability remediation, patching, and resilience requirements.
  • Executive Reporting: Provide clear visibility into infrastructure performance, service health, operational risk, financial performance, capacity, and improvement priorities.

Leadership Expectations

  • Translate business needs into infrastructure priorities, investment decisions, and operational plans.
  • Lead through influence across technology, security, finance, procurement, business operations, and external partners.
  • Create clarity around roles, decision rights, service ownership, and performance expectations.
  • Develop leaders and teams capable of operating with discipline, urgency, accountability, and customer focus.

Success Measures

  • Improved infrastructure availability, reliability, and incident recovery performance.
  • Clear service ownership and measurable MSP/vendor performance against agreed outcomes.
  • Improved cost transparency, budget discipline, capacity planning, and cloud spend optimization.
  • Reduced audit, compliance, patching, and vulnerability remediation gaps.
  • Higher stakeholder confidence in infrastructure service quality, responsiveness, and operational maturity.

Salary Range: $159,900 - $213,000 annual salary plus a non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.

Basic Requirements

  • 7-10 years of senior leadership experience in enterprise infrastructure operations across hybrid and cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading infrastructure reliability, service management, MSP governance, security alignment, and financial discipline at scale.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate technical operations into business impact, risk, and investment decisions.
  • Experience building high-performing teams and operating models across internal staff, managed service providers, and strategic vendors.
  • Relevant experience with IT service management, cloud operations, cybersecurity practices, and enterprise infrastructure modernization.

Preferred Requirements

  • Local to the Kansas City Metro preferred.
