A Commissioning Technician will review project installations, handle start-up/commissioning, verify/document proper operation, maintenance, repair, and testing of various HVAC equipment such as packaged rooftop equipment, split systems (DX/gas-fired/hot water/chilled water/steam), direct/indirect fired make-up air units, energy recovery systems, VAV/VVT/VRF systems, pumps, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, some refrigeration, and all ancillary components of these systems.

A Commissioning Technician will review project installations, handle start-up/commissioning, verify/document proper operation, maintenance, repair, and testing of various HVAC equipment such as packaged rooftop equipment, split systems (DX/gas-fired/hot water/chilled water/steam), direct/indirect fired make-up air units, energy recovery systems, VAV/VVT/VRF systems, pumps, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, some refrigeration, and all ancillary components of these systems.
Responsibilities of the HVAC Service Commissioning Tech:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
- Troubleshoot, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems to meet manufacturers' requirements with minimal supervision.
- Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
- Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate equipment or system malfunctions.
- Review installation, operation, maintenance, or repair to ensure that machines or equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
- Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
- Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems or needs.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certificate of training from accredited HVAC technical school
- 10 years commercial/industrial HVAC experience
- Universal EPA certification
- KY HVAC License
- OSHA 30 Training
- Good driving record
- Flexibility to work on out-of-town projects
- Be able to lift more than 50 lbs
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to work with general contractors and end users, and the ability to train the end users on operation and maintenance of systems installed
- Air/water balancing background, or desire to learn air/water balancing, a plus
- Willing to be a good team member and desire to work for a company with a strong family type atmosphere
- Solid HVAC electrical skills related to interlock wiring, electrical schematics, and diagnostics of electrical issues
- Strong mechanical refrigeration skills related to diagnostics, checking/charging systems, and installation of piping
