 Job Description: Lead Podcast Producer

We’re seeking a creative, highly organized Podcast Producer to help develop and execute a new visual podcast series under Jay Shetty’s production company, Perfect Strangers. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day creative and production execution of the show, helping shape each episode from idea to final delivery.

The Podcast Producer will work closely with Jay's External Podcast Lead, the host’s team, guests, editors, and production partners to ensure every episode is thoughtful, well-prepared, visually engaging, and delivered on time. This person should have strong creative instincts, excellent booking and logistics skills, and the ability to manage the details that make a talent-led show feel seamless.

Key Responsibilities:

Episode Creative & Development

• Lead episode-over-episode creative development, including guest research, episode framing, segment ideation, question development, and run-of-show preparation.

• Help shape the creative identity of the show through recurring segments, conversation formats, visual ideas, games, themes, and episode structures.

• Create research packets, prep docs, one-sheets, guest briefs, and host materials that help host feel fully prepared for each conversation.

• Identify strong conversation angles, emotional entry points, cultural hooks, and audience-relevant topics for each episode.

• Work with leadership to ensure each episode supports the broader creative direction of the series.

• Track what is working creatively across episodes and help evolve the show based on performance, talent feedback, and audience response.

Booking, Guest Management & Logistics

• Spearhead guest booking outreach, scheduling, communication, confirmations, and follow-ups in partnership with other show leadership and talent teams.

• Maintain guest trackers, target lists, outreach status, availability, approvals, and shoot logistics.

• Coordinate guest materials, bios, talking points, arrival details, release forms, glam needs, travel details, and day-of expectations as needed.

• Serve as a key communication point for guests and representatives around episode prep, timing, logistics, and production needs.

• Help identify potential guests who align with the show’s creative direction, audience goals, and brand positioning.

Production Planning & Shoot Execution

• Own day-to-day production prep for each episode, including calendars, call sheets, run-of-show documents, production notes, shot needs, and on-set requirements.

• Coordinate with videographers, audio teams, editors, production assistants, locations, glam, talent teams, and other vendors to ensure smooth execution.

• Manage shoot-day logistics and help keep production on schedule.

• Support host and guests on set, ensuring they have the information, comfort, and clarity needed for a successful episode.

• Track production needs across each episode, including props, set elements, segment materials, food, wardrobe considerations, and any special creative requirements.

• Capture and communicate important creative notes from set that may impact the edit, clips, titles, or promotional strategy.

Post-Production & Editorial Execution

• Guide episodes through post-production in partnership with editors, other show leadership, and post-production vendors.

• Review cuts and provide clear, actionable notes on story, pacing, structure, tone, clarity, and audience engagement.

• Identify strong moments for social clips, YouTube packaging, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, and promotional beats.

• Help ensure each episode has a compelling beginning, clean structure, strong moments, and a polished final delivery.

• Track post-production deadlines and deliverables, including video cuts, audio cuts, social clips, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, and any ad-related needs.

• Maintain continuity across episodes, making sure the show feels cohesive while still evolving creatively.

Creative Packaging & Audience Growth Support

• Draft or support episode titles, descriptions, clip selects, thumbnail ideas, hooks, and social copy.

• Collaborate with show leadership, growth teams, and post-production partners to improve episode packaging and discoverability.

• Monitor audience feedback and performance trends to help inform future creative decisions.

• Bring fresh ideas for segments, guests, social extensions, and episode formats that can help the show travel across platforms.

• Stay current on podcast, YouTube, pop culture, wellness, lifestyle, and creator trends relevant to the show’s audience.

Organization & Communication

• Maintain episode trackers, production calendars, guest grids, prep docs, clip logs, and post-production notes.

• Keep show leadership updated on guest status, creative needs, logistics, risks, and production progress.

• Communicate clearly and proactively with internal teams, external partners, talent teams, and vendors.

• Ensure all episode materials are organized, accessible, and delivered on schedule.

• Help create repeatable systems that allow the show to scale smoothly after launch.

Ideal Candidate

• Has experience producing podcasts, digital video series, YouTube shows, talk shows, interview formats, or talent-led content.

• Has strong creative taste and understands how to build an engaging episode from concept through edit.

• Is an excellent researcher who can turn guest information into smart, emotionally resonant, and entertaining conversation prompts.

• Is highly organized and comfortable managing schedules, guests, documents, deadlines, and production logistics.

• Has strong booking instincts and can communicate professionally with guests, reps, talent teams, and vendors.

• Understands what makes short-form clips, YouTube titles, thumbnails, and episode moments perform.

• Can give clear editorial notes and help shape a conversation in post without overcomplicating the process.

• Is calm, resourceful, and solutions-oriented in fast-moving production environments.

• Is collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working with high-profile talent and brand-sensitive materials.

• Has a strong sense of tone, taste, and audience, especially within lifestyle, wellness, culture, relationships, and personality-driven media.

Preferred Experience

• 5 years of experience in podcast production, digital video, editorial production, talent-led content, or a related field.

• Experience booking guests and managing guest communications.

• Experience creating host prep, research packets, episode outlines, and creative documents.

• Experience reviewing cuts and giving editorial notes to editors or post-production teams.

• Familiarity with YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, social clips, and podcast distribution workflows.

• Experience using project management or production tools such as Airtable, ClickUp, Asana, Monday, Notion, Google Workspace, or similar platforms.

• Comfort working across both creative and logistical responsibilities in a lean, fast-moving team.
