SUMMARY:
The Credit Analyst provides support to the lending team by evaluating the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for credit with the bank. This role is responsible for spreading financial statements, analyzing creditworthiness, assessing risk, and preparing written credit memorandums to assist loan officers and management in decision-making.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect, review, and analyze financial statements, tax returns, and other credit information.
- Prepare financial statement spreads and cash flow analyses using bank-approved software or templates.
- Develop credit memorandums that outline strengths, weaknesses, risks, and mitigants for loan requests.
- Monitor loan portfolio quality by assisting with annual reviews, covenant tracking, and risk rating assessments.
- Research industry, market, and economic conditions that affect borrowers.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and sound credit practices.
- Assist loan officers with structuring loan requests that balance borrower needs with the bank’s risk appetite.
- Participate in loan committee presentations when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all customers and bank information
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other tasks the supervisor requests as they relate to the Bank and its functions.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, ratios, and cash flow analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a community bank environment.
