Position Overview
This is a hands-on role that demands expertise in TIG welding, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to craftsmanship.
Required Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must have the following:
- ASME Section IX Certification (required).
- Formal welding training (school or equivalent work experience).
- Recent TIG welding experience (within the last 3 months).
- Proven track record as a TIG Welder, Fabricator, or in a similar role.
- Ability to successfully complete an in-person interview and welding test.
Key Responsibilities
As a TIG Welder/Fabricator, you will:
- Perform precise TIG welding on 316L stainless steel components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication packages.
- Use shop math to verify dimensions, fit-up, and part placement.
- Plan welding sequences to optimize downstream processes, such as grinding, polishing, and machining.
- Prepare and clean materials prior to welding.
- Fabricate cylinder and vessel components.
- Inspect completed welds for:
- Appearance and aesthetic consistency
- Discoloration, inclusions, porosity, concavity, and convexity
- Overall quality and adherence to standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quarterly skill development programs.
Preferred Experience
While not required, the following experience is a plus:
- Welding 316L stainless steel
- Vacuum industry or semiconductor industry welding
- Robotic welding
