We are hiring a Senior Power Supply Design Engineer for a high-reliability aerospace and defense electronics program in Endicott, NY.
This role is ideal for an Electrical Design Engineer with deep hands-on experience in power conversion, power electronics design, and high-reliability circuit development. The engineer will design DC/DC and AC/DC power electronics in the 20W-500W range and support the full design lifecycle from concept through verification testing.
Responsibilities
- Design high-reliability DC/DC and AC/DC power electronics.
- Perform circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, simulation, analysis, and verification testing.
- Support PWB layout and design reviews.
- Design and analyze converter topologies including Buck, Boost, Flyback, Forward, Push-Pull, Half-Bridge, Cuk, and Sepic.
- Work on magnetics, MOSFETs, Schottky diodes, IGBTs, gate drives, analog circuitry, motor drives, and control loops.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams through design, test, and production support.
Required Qualifications
- BSEE or equivalent technical degree.
- 12 years of power conversion design experience.
- Strong DC/DC and AC/DC converter design experience.
- Magnetics design experience.
- Experience with control loop analysis.
- Experience with PSPICE and MathCad.
- Strong analog circuit design and power electronics troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across engineering teams.
- Must be able to meet applicable U.S. government program work-authorization requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace, defense, aviation, avionics, or high-reliability electronics experience.
- MIL-STD-704 or RTCA/DO-160 experience.
- High-power converter or motor drive experience up to 500kW and 1000V DC link.
- Synchronous rectification, multi-phase converters, resonant converters, or current-fed converters.
- Radiation-hardened or SEE-immune design experience.
- EMI filtering, lightning protection, embedded control, or firmware-controlled power systems experience.
- Full lifecycle product development experience.
