3rd Shift Pressroom Team Lead

Job Summary

This position oversees the operation and setup of a variety of hydraulic brake and punch presses. It provides quality component parts for the poultry, egg and pig product lines.

Essential Functions

• Job requires 10-hour shifts and scheduled weekends at times to meet business needs.

• Ability to perform set-up of equipment and operation with limited supervision (hydraulic brake presses, obi presses, laser, Tru-punch, auto presses, spotwelding, riveting, etc.)

• Ability to write or edit cnc programs and make necessary adjustments on brake press computer controls

• Job requires doing own material handling at times

• Ability to do setup on complicated 6 or 8 axis brake presses

• Oversee required quality of parts being processed or handled

• Ability to prioritize daily production orders for area of responsibility using dispatch reports

• Maintain and work to improve department performance metrics of on time, complete, and error free

• Responsible for cross-training and monitoring the status of direct reports

• Perform quality checks using QC piece, when provided, to check against print specifications

• Ability to use specific tools (wrenches, heavy-duty ratchet, allen wrenches, etc. for setup of tooling and presses)

• Ability to use tape measure, protractor, precision gauges, and a caliper to check print dimensions with tight tolerances (.020/2 deg)

• Ability to perform orientation and training of new operators

• Ability to communicate between shift leaders and other department leaders

• Ability to assist with the employee appraisal process

• Participate in department accident or injury reporting process

• Ability to enter production data into the AS400

• Ability to promote 6S and LDMS principles with direct reports

• Ability to assist in daily/weekly preventative maintenance duties as assigned

• Willingness to work in other production areas as needed

• Other marginal duties as assigned

• Must be able to perform all physical requirements

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education: High school degree, GED.

Experience: Candidate must possess the following: Prior factory experience required:

• This position requires a strong focus on safety.

• Ability to read, write, and do basic math in English

• Ability to read print facts and follow production orders

• Prior level 6 experience in press room helpful

• Basic computer skills

• Basic knowledge using AS400

• Forklift and overhead crane license required

• Ability to work in a team environment and able to train others as needed

• Must be able to carry out detailed written or oral instruction

Working conditions

• Seasonal temperature conditions in the plant vary – summers are hot and humid in the building

• PPE required (such as long pants, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, Kevlar sleeves)

• Ability to work in a loud environment

• Ability to work around moving mechanical / hydraulic equipment

• Must work around sheet metal with sharp edges

Physical requirements

• Constant standing on concrete floors

• Occasionally lifting 5 to 50 lbs.

• Occasionally squatting during set up of press

• Occasionally pulling and pushing up to 75 lbs.
