Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction across general UXS platforms, including Group 1 and 2 UAS and USVs, for SBTC missions, with emphasis on airspace and maritime traffic deconfliction, ground and waterborne operational safety, and UXS maintenance protocols.
  • Train participants on tactical UXS employment in operational environments, including pre-flight/pre-deployment and post-flight/post-deployment inspections, autonomous mission planning, and integrating UXS platforms for ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) and tactical support missions.
  • Ensure all instructional practices align with DoD policies and SBTC standards to develop comprehensive risk management and operational safety expertise for unmanned platforms.
  • Educate on the roles of UXS (UAS and USVs) in SOF and conventional force missions. Focus on how these systems support ISR operations, logistics resupply, maritime security, and multi-domain tactical integration to enhance operational reach and effectiveness.
  • Highlight UXS integration into SOF operational forces by demonstrating the interoperability of aerial and maritime systems. Leverage their capabilities for unit training, small-unit agility, and combatant commander mission fulfillment.
  • Incorporate lessons on leadership in leveraging unmanned systems, teaching participants to lead small units equipped with UXS assets. Emphasize coordination of UXS operations with traditional forces to create force multipliers.
  • Train personnel in formation management using UXS assets to provide real-time overwatch, reconnaissance, and operational flexibility. Integrate UAS and USVs for day and night deployments in various terrains, including riverine and coastal zones.
  • Maritime Boarding with UXS: Utilize USVs and UAS platforms to support maritime interdiction operations by providing aerial and surface reconnaissance, target tracking, and situational awareness prior to boarding.
  • Empower trainees to use UXS platforms to enhance troop-leading procedures, particularly for small-unit tactical movements. Use reconnaissance feeds for real-time decision-making and indirect team empowerment.
  • Train participants on operational risk management enhanced by UXS-provided data, such as terrain modeling (UAS) or surface-level navigation risk assessments (USVs) for mission planning and execution.
  •  Incorporate both UAS and USVs to monitor range activities dynamically. Use unmanned platforms for surveillance of training areas, ensuring enhanced situational awareness and incident accountability.
  • Teach mission planning that integrates aerial and surface unmanned resources. Train participants to analyze their roles in ISR, logistics support, dynamic targeting, and situational monitoring during operational planning.
  • Develop navigation strategies using USVs to provide real-time environmental scans, riverine route management, and support for small craft teams during tactical maritime operations.
  • Use data from UXS platforms for practical exercises in terrain navigation, tailoring land movement plans with unmanned capabilities for mapping, waypoint identification, and threat detection—day and night.
  • Train teams to integrate both UAS and USVs as part of SOF land and maritime patrol planning. Emphasize their value in maintaining persistent area surveillance and communication during extended patrol operations.
  • Incorporate biometric drones for fitness tracking, as well as UXS in physical scenarios where endurance and leadership evaluation can occur under simulated operational stressors.
  • Leverage both UAS and USVs for route planning, integrating aerial and surface reconnaissance for unit-level tactical route decisions. Address multispectral terrain analysis for complex operational environments.
  • Use both UAS and USV during combat reaction drills to simulate adversarial tactics. Teach trainees how to employ unmanned systems to respond to dynamic threats, reinforce decision-making under stress, and enhance team coordination.
  • Provide practical instruction on special reconnaissance operations using UXS’s.
  • Focus on stealth insertion, long-endurance surveillance, and actionable intelligence development.
  • Train participants in developing concise post-mission debriefings using data collected from UXS platforms to build communication and public speaking skills for operational briefings.
  • Leverage UXS platforms to support international military and law enforcement training, adapting tactical UXS employment scenarios to varying levels of participant expertise while highlighting interoperability in joint operations.
  • Expand curriculum development to include modules on UXS tactical employment, maintenance, and operational safety. Integrate updates on emerging UXS technologies and their applications in modern hybrid warfare.
  • Evaluate current training aids and recommend incorporating advanced UXS systems to enhance instructional quality, particularly in areas such as ISR, environmental awareness, and unit-level tactical operations involving unmanned platforms.
  • Provide technical insight into the integration of UXS platforms (UAS and USVs) with operational training scenarios. Train personnel to monitor, maintain, and repair unmanned platforms in accordance with established military and naval standards.
