Role Summary:

A Senior Software Engineer at Alden will work collaboratively with a cross functional team leveraging their skills as a full-stack engineer. This position requires deep knowledge and experience of modern development solutions, best practices and tools. You will be expected to take on a senior role in enforcing high quality solutions, understanding business needs and having a strong foresight for maintainability.


Software engineering is rapidly evolving with the use of AI and we are eagerly experimenting and adopting agentic coding techniques and tools. We see agentic coding as a method for empowering great engineers! Please come share your experience so far and explore the possibilities.


Our needs are incredibly diverse ranging from mobile solutions, RESTful APIs, serverless cloud architecture, and IOT devices. Future opportunities include data pipelines, machine learning, robotics, and more. We will continuously push the boundaries of new technologies to create a better product experience for our members! Deep expertise is not required in all of them, but you must be willing and committed to learn as needed.

Responsibilities


  • Develop software solutions utilizing modern technologies, our custom hardware, and leverage our patented biotech innovations
  • Leverage AWS and cloud-native capabilities to build solutions that are secure, reliable, scalable and cost-efficient
  • Adhere to best practices and industry standards for design patterns, code reuse, maintainability and security
  • Enforce quality through automated tools and processes
  • Build, update and maintain contributing processes and CI/CD pipelines
  • Recommend technical plans, analyze LOE and impact, code, implement, test, troubleshoot and maintain software throughout the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Pursue agentic coding best practices, tools, and processes to help us build faster for our members

Qualifications


  • 5 years experience in full-stack software engineering
  • 3 years of experience with python
  • 3 years of experience working with cloud technologies (AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SNS/SQS, CodeBuild/CodePipeline, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with javascript/typescript
  • Experience developing mobile applications (iOS, react native, tablet)
  • Experience developing and integrating with RESTful apis and cloud systems
  • Experience designing and interacting with relational databases (Postgresql)
  • Experience operating, deploying to and working in a linux environment (Debian, raspbian)
  • Experience with IOT/edge device development (Raspberry Pi)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other members of a cross functional team
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative and iterative development environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation
  • Solicit and understand user needs and stories
  • Follow and adhere to Lean, Agile and CI/CD methodologies
